Fifty-two nurses from Saint Josephs Infirmary School of
Nursing will participate in the capping ceremony at Sacred Heart Church on
Sunday, March 8 at 4 p.m.
Rev. Thomas J. Roshetko, S.M., Pastor of Sacred Heart Church will
officiate during the ceremony. Assisting Father Roshetko will be Rev. James T.
Murray, S.M., and Rev. George J. Meiluto, S.M., Father Murray and Father
Meiluto are chaplains at the Infirmary.
Sister Mary Melanie, R.S.M., hospital administrator, and Sister M.
Kristen, R.S.M., director of nursing, will confer the caps to the students who
have successfully completed their course in theory and practice for the last
six months. These students will continue their studies in the nursing field and
will perform nursing procedures on the hospital units until they have completed
the three year course of study required to graduate from the School of Nursing.
Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament will follow the exercises.
After the ceremony a reception in the honor of the newly capped
nurses will be held in the hospital cafeteria. Families and friends of the
students are invited.
Mr. William Whitehead will receive the SJI insignia and the
