D'Youville Academy Scholarship Awards

Winner of a full-tuition scholarship at D’Youville Academy is Judy Dieterle, an eighth-grade student at Our Lady of the Assumption School. Names of the scholarship winners were announced recently by Sister Mary Raphael, G.N.S.H., principal, after evaluation of recent entrance and scholarship examination results.

Partial scholarships were won by Natalia Schoeck, a student at St. Thomas More School, Sophie Gatins of Christ the King School, Paula Harrington, also a student at Christ the King School, Dian Mix and Camille Wells, both of Christ the King School.

Several Academy seniors also have received scholarships. Mary Jane Brennan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Brennan has won two full-tuition scholarships, one to Maryville College of the Sacred Heart in St. Louis, the other to D’Youville College in Buffalo.

She is also one of twelve candidates for a Thom McAnn Scholarship, was winner of the Academy essay contest in connection with the Serra Club vocation contest, and has had several poems published in the D’Youville College High School Anthology. In addition to her scholastic achievements, she has been a member of the staff of the Marguerite, the Academy yearbook, is associate editor of the Academy newspaper, the D’Youville, and is vice-president of the Academy student council.

Mary Amann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis C. Amann, N.W., has recently been awarded as alumnae scholarship to the College of St. Joseph in Ohio. She is president of the Academy Catholic Students’ Mission Crusade and associate editor of the Academy annual.
