Published October 16, 2014

ATLANTA—The Archdiocesan Mass for Domestic Violence Awareness Month will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 25, at 5 p.m. at Holy Cross Church, 3773 Chamblee Tucker Road, NE, in Atlanta.

Bishop Luis R. Zarama, auxiliary bishop of Atlanta, will celebrate the Mass. The Mass will be interpreted in American Sign Language.

Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory addressed the issue of domestic violence in his column, “What I Have Seen and Heard,” of Sept. 18 in The Georgia Bulletin.

“Violence against women occurs in affluent homes as well as in poor ones. It can be physical and verbal. Such brutality speaks every language and can be found in every cultural context. Young women and mature women can be victims. And this tragedy deserves our attention, our prayers and our resolve to address it,” wrote the archbishop.
